According to Chempricehub data, domestic n-octanol production costs significantly exceeded selling prices this week. Following the National Day holiday, raw material propylene prices surged sharply, reaching their year-to-date peak. Meanwhile, n-octanol prices declined during the holiday period and rebounded only modestly upon market reopening—failing to keep pace with the rise in feedstock costs. Based on spot propylene prices, the average weekly loss for Shandong-based n-octanol producers stood at approximately 300 yuan per ton.
Sample Methodology:
N-octanol profit margin is calculated as the difference between ex-factory n-octanol price and production cost. Chempricehub tracks profits for n-octanol produced via oxo-synthesis (hydroformylation) in Shandong Province.
The reported weekly average profit reflects the mainstream gross margin of Shandong n-octanol producers, measured over a cycle from Friday of the prior week through Thursday of the current week. Data are released on working days between 13:30 and 17:00 each Thursday.
