Weekly Statistics on Acrylic Emulsion Production Profit in China (20260821-0827)

Published on 2026-08-27

As of August 27, 2026, the theoretical gross production margin for pure acrylic emulsion this week was RMB 285/ton, down RMB 101.5/ton week-on-week, or 26.26% lower. The theoretical gross production margin for styrene-acrylic emulsion was RMB -427.36/ton, down RMB 161.6/ton week-on-week, or 60.81% lower. The main reason is that butyl acrylate rose during the week, styrene fluctuated frequently at high levels, and MMA consolidated at high levels, leading to a downward trend in profitability for both pure acrylic and styrene-acrylic emulsions.

Sample description: On the data release date, Chempricehub Information monitors theoretical costs and profits based on the pure acrylic and styrene-acrylic emulsion prices and raw material listed prices compiled by Chempricehub Information on the same day.

Definition of terms: Cost: Production cost refers to the total sum of direct expenses, direct labor, and indirect manufacturing costs incurred by an enterprise to produce a certain type and quantity of product. The production cost of acrylic emulsion refers to the theoretical production cost derived from the three major raw materials (butyl acrylate, MMA, and styrene).

Profit: Production profit calculated based on the prices of pure acrylic emulsion and styrene-acrylic emulsion, namely the profit obtained after deducting total costs and additional expenses (excluding financial expenses) from the prices of pure acrylic emulsion and styrene-acrylic emulsion.

Statistical basis: The statistical period runs from last Friday to this Thursday, with profit data compared between this Thursday and last Thursday. The acrylic emulsion product profit data from Chempricehub Information is first-hand statistical data, released every Thursday from 15:00 to 17:00 on working days.

Squeezed margins from firm MMA and butyl acrylate feedstock costs may prompt producers to cut capacity utilization, but a weak downstream demand outlook limits any price pass-through.
