This cycle, the Asian butadiene market remained relatively stable with limited volatility. Market rumors circulated regarding a 20,000-ton cargo of butadiene being loaded at U.S. terminals for shipment to Asia; however, buyers indicated that this was part of previously finalized existing orders, with no new export orders reported. Trading activity was sparse, and there were no negotiations or transactions taking place. Additionally, several domestic butadiene units are scheduled to resume production in October, which may lead to a looser supply environment. Furthermore, Asahi Kasei & Mitsubishi Chemical Ethylene Co., Ltd. (AMEC) plans to shut down its Mizushima cracker unit for maintenance from mid-May to mid-July 2027.
