Weekly Statistics on Sample Production Profits in China's C5 Industry Chain (August 21–27, 2026)

Published on 2026-08-28

On August 27, the price of cracked C5 rose 5.98%, while the prices of dicyclopentadiene, isoprene, and piperylene increased by 6.67%, 4.62%, and 7.01%, respectively. The price of cracked C5 residual liquid rose only 0.58%. Overall, the increase in cracked C5 residual liquid was limited, whereas cracked C5 prices rose considerably, leading to an apparent contraction in weekly profits.

Next week, cracked C5 prices are expected to be pushed upward, while the increases in pentadiene and cracked C5 residual liquid prices are expected to narrow. As a result, C5 separation profits are likely to continue declining.

Table: C5 separation chain profit statement

The feedstock cost spike clearly outpaced derivative gains, squeezing C5 separation margins to just 161 yuan/ton. With cracked C5 expected to stay firm, I see further downside risk for run profitability next week.
